Amazon India Head Manish Tiwary Departs: Read His Heartfelt Farewell Message

Manish Tiwary, who served as the Country Head of Amazon India, has stepped down after an impressive eight-and-a-half-year tenure with the company. His official departure took place on September 30, with Samir Kumar taking over his responsibilities as of October 1.

Before leaving, Tiwary shared an emotional farewell message on LinkedIn, reflecting on his time at Amazon India. In his message, he recalled the long nights during the Amazon Great Indian Festival, fueled by “countless cups of coffee,” and the remarkable journey he had experienced at the company.

Here’s an excerpt from his LinkedIn farewell message:

“After an incredible eight-year journey with Amazon India, it’s time for me to move on and embark on a new adventure. This decision is bittersweet because Amazon has been more than just a workplace for me—it has been my second home, a place where I’ve grown both professionally and personally.

From the moment I joined nearly a decade ago, Amazon welcomed me with open arms. I began by managing a few categories and eventually took on the responsibility of leading the India consumer business. The journey was challenging, but thanks to the unwavering support of my fantastic colleagues, who became like family, we were able to overcome every hurdle and achieve incredible milestones.

I will always treasure the memories of late nights spent in the war room during the Amazon Great Indian Festival, the celebrations after accomplishing what seemed impossible, and the laughter shared over endless cups of coffee. To my amazing team, thank you for your camaraderie, dedication, and hard work. I am truly privileged to have worked alongside you, and I am so proud of what we built together—turning Amazon into ‘India Ki Apni Dukaan’ and making a meaningful impact on millions of customers and sellers across the country.

As I graduate from my time at Amazon, I leave with immense gratitude. Amazon has been my home away from home, a place where I found passion, purpose, and belonging. I’d like to extend my deepest thanks to Amit Agarwal, Russell Grandinetti, Doug Herrington, and Andy Jassy for their leadership and support during my journey here.

While I am excited about the future, it’s hard not to feel a bit emotional as I say goodbye to a place that has shaped me into who I am today. Amazon, you will always hold a special place in my heart. I proudly move on to the next chapter of my life as an ‘Amazon Graduate.'”

Samir Kumar Takes Over India Operations

Amazon veteran Samir Kumar, who has been with the company for 25 years, will now lead Amazon India as its Country Manager. Along with this role, he will continue overseeing Amazon’s consumer businesses in the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey. Samir was also part of the core team that launched Amazon.in in 2013, and his experience is expected to guide Amazon India’s future growth.
