Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has declared her retirement just a day after being disqualified from the wrestling final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Phogat, competing in the 50 kg Women’s Wrestling category, was disqualified from the gold medal match for exceeding the weight limit by 100 grams.

In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Phogat expressed her resignation in Hindi: “Ma Kusti (Wrestling) won against me, I lost. Forgive me, your dream and my courage have been shattered. I no longer have the strength.”

She concluded with a poignant farewell: “Goodbye Wrestling 2001-2024.”
