Kerala Live-In Couple Confess to Burying Newborns, Bring Infant Remains to Police After Years
In a deeply disturbing and tragic case that has shocked Kerala, a man from Thrissur district walked into a local police station carrying the skeletal remains of two newborn babies and confessed to a horrifying secret he and his live-in partner had kept hidden for years. The incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday when 25-year-old Bhavin arrived at the Puthukkad police station around 12:30 a.m., reportedly holding a packet containing the remains of two infants. He revealed to Station House Officer Mahendra Simhan that he and his partner, 22-year-old Anisha, had buried their newborn sons shortly after birth, and had kept the matter secret until now.
According to the police, Bhavin and Anisha had been in a live-in relationship since 2020 after first connecting through Facebook. Bhavin is employed as a plumber while Anisha works as a lab technician. The couple’s relationship, however, took a dark turn when Anisha gave birth to her first child in 2021. She told police that she delivered the baby alone in the bathroom of her home. During interrogation, she claimed the child was stillborn due to complications caused by the umbilical cord being wrapped around his neck. Without informing anyone, she allegedly buried the baby secretly on her property. Eight months later, Bhavin reportedly asked Anisha to hand over the remains of the infant. Shockingly, he preserved the bones, telling his friends that they planned to perform the last rites together as a symbolic gesture of their bond.
However, the horror did not end there. In 2024, Anisha gave birth to another child, again in secret, this time inside a room at her residence. According to Bhavin’s confession and initial police statements, the newborn’s cries raised fears of alerting the neighbors. In an attempt to silence the infant, his mouth was allegedly covered forcefully, leading to his death. Bhavin then buried the baby behind his residence in Amballur. It is the remains of both these infants that Bhavin brought with him to the police station in a shocking act of delayed repentance.
Following Bhavin’s revelation, police detained both him and Anisha for questioning. A forensic surgeon examined the remains and confirmed that the bones were indeed those of human infants. Authorities are now conducting an in-depth forensic and scientific investigation to determine the exact cause of death in both cases. While the first incident has been described by Anisha as a natural stillbirth, the circumstances surrounding both deaths have raised serious suspicions of possible foul play.
The case has sparked public outrage and concern over the mental health, secrecy, and lack of medical supervision involved in the couple’s actions. Law enforcement officials are now working to uncover more details and verify whether the couple acted alone or if others were involved or aware of the incidents. As the investigation unfolds, the tragic tale of hidden births, possible infanticide, and long-buried secrets has brought attention to the darker corners of societal stigma, relationship dynamics, and neglected mental health.
