The Paris Olympics will wrap up on Sunday, August 11, after 16 days of high-level competition. India will not have any events on the final day, with Reetika Hooda missing out on a repechage opportunity in wrestling.
Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh have been chosen as the country’s flag bearers for the closing ceremony. Bhaker made history as the first Indian woman to win a shooting medal at these Games, securing bronze in the 10m air pistol event, and added another bronze in the mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh.
Sreejesh was instrumental in the Indian men’s hockey team’s bronze medal win and will retire following the Games.
In other events, the USA women’s basketball team is aiming for a record eighth consecutive gold, facing off against host nation France in what promises to be an exciting final.
