Uddhav Thackeray compares Amit Shah to ‘Ahmad Shah Abdali’ and alleges that the BJP is involved in ‘Power Jihad.’

Uddhav Thackeray
Uddhav Thackeray launched a strong attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his ‘Aurangzeb Fan Club’ comment. Thackeray responded by branding Shah as a political successor to Ahmad Shah Abdali, the Afghan ruler known for defeating the Marathas in the Third Battle of Panipat. Thackeray further criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which he described as engaging in ‘power jihad’ by fragmenting political parties to establish a government.

Thackeray remarked, “Amit Shah is the political heir to Ahmad Shah Abdali. Ahmad Shah was a Shah, and now we have Amit Shah. Are you going to teach us Hindutva? You celebrated Nawaz Sharif’s birthday, and now you expect us to learn Hindutva from you?”

Fadnavis Responds
Thackeray’s comments received strong reactions from Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Fadnavis accused Thackeray of aligning himself with the ‘Aurangzeb fan club,’ while Shinde condemned Thackeray’s remarks as a reflection of his frustration and lack of intellectual rigor.

Speaking at a rally in Pune, Thackeray accused the Eknath Shinde-led faction of distributing ‘revdis’ (freebies) and bribing voters. He criticized various schemes like the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana, which promises Rs 1,500 per month to eligible women, as part of this strategy.

Amit Shah’s ‘Aurangzeb Fan Club’ Comment
Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had criticized Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray, calling him the ‘head of the Aurangzeb fan club.’ Shah’s comment was made in the context of Thackeray’s alliance with Congress and NCP to form the Maha Vikas Aghadi government after the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections.
