AP Govt. bans usage of mobile phones inside the classrooms.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh prohibits use of mobile phones in schools across the state. Orders are issued by the Department of Education to ban students from taking cell phones into school. Apart from that, teachers had been restricted from using mobile phones in the classroom. In addition, teachers were advised to bring their cell phones into the principal’s office before entering the classroom.

To make sure that the lessons are not distracted, the Ministry of Education has prohibited cell phones and passed this order. According to officials, the move has been carried out in conformity with UNESCO’s Global Education Monitoring Report.

UNESCO warned that a rush to adopt digital products in the classroom is not warranted, pointing out that little solid evidence exists on their added educational benefits and many of these are produced by those trying to sell them. The UN body recently supported the ban on mobile phones in schools, noting that a total of four countries have already enacted such bans as legislation or policies pertaining to data security, safety and children’s well being.

According to officials, the students have been forced to learn and understand teaching by themselves when teachers use cell phones in class. Due to the technological advance many schools use technological driven teaching and use digital gadgets at school. Taking this as an opportunity some teachers in schools use their cellphones while making the students learn on their own. This is interrupting the lessons and the education of the students. Hence the Andhra Government has implemented the ban of cell phones at schools as a precautionary measure for quality education.

The Andhra Pradesh Department of Education has already asked teachers not to use mobile phones in classes, but they haven’t been very strict. Apart from the earlier restrictions still some schools are found where teachers use cellphones in the classroom. To solve this issue, The Ministry of Education’s guidelines not only includes the prohibition of cellphones by the students in the schools but it also includes prohibition on teachers using cell phones in the classroom.
