8 dead, approx 50 injured in 2 train collisions in AP. 2023 more than 10 incidents ?

On a Sunday evening, a tragic collision between two trains in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district led to eight passenger fatalities and numerous injuries. The incident involved the 08504 Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger train colliding with the 08532 Visakhapatnam-Palasa Passenger train.

Two rear coaches of the Visakhapatnam-Palasa Passenger train and the engine of the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger train derailed as a result. Initial reports suggest human error, possibly related to a signal overshoot by the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada train, as the cause of the collision.

The Prime Minister expressed condolences and announced financial aid for the affected families. Both the Prime Minister’s office and the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh ensured relief measures and medical care for the injured. Rescue operations were initiated, and the situation was under control at the time of the report.
